Tim Coakley is a Boston based pop artist who uniquely blends rock and R&B, with influences of jazz and funk. Tim started his solo career in the fall of 2010 when he began work on a two song EP released that winter. As interest in his work grew, Tim began work on his debut album “Drowning” released in the summer of 2011. Relocating to Boston Tim quickly assembled a backing band and began rehearsals for live performances. Tim soon released “Live from the Creek,” a four part video performance with guitarist Alex Palazzo. During this time Tim wrote and began pre-production on four new songs to be recorded in early 2012. The new year brought a new emphasis on live performance with bookings at venues across the northeast.
Tim and his band are currently focused on the completion of a new album. The release is expected out in February of 2012 and will showcase the new band members not yet recorded on Tim’s work.
The band currently consists of five members, assembled in Boston. Tim Coakley and guitarist Alex Palazzo, are both from Latham New York, and have played together since high school. Alex has performed in pit orchestras, session bands, and jazz groups throughout New England. Drummer Matt Trawinski hails from Rochelle Park, New Jersey, and has played with various artists including most notably the pop-punk band Hands on the Stereo. Bassist Jon Behar of Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania formerly played in the Philadelphia blues group The Deanny V’s. The band’s keyboardist Mike Bligdon of Toronto, Canada is an established jazz piano player with international playing experience.
